GCPS teams have won several 2012 AAAAA state championships including Collins Hill High’s wrestling team, Brookwood High’s Girls swim and dive team, Parkview High’s Boys swim and dive team, and the Gwinnett HEAT adapted sports basketball team.

The North Gwinnett High Air Force Junior ROTC Unit earned the designation of Distinguished Unit for 2010-11.

Shiloh High's Air Force Junior ROTC Unit GA-871 received a 2010-11 Air Force Outstanding Organization Award.
Several teams won state championships including the Parkview High Baseball team and the Brookwood High Boys Tennis team.

Archer High and Mountain View High received the 2011 Georgia High School Association Cooperative Spirit Sportsmanship Award.

Berkmar High is the Division I winner at the Georgia Academic Decathlon. Parkview High earned the title 1st runner-up and Mill Creek High earned the title 2nd runner-up.

GCPS TV Broadcast and Distance Learning won two EMMY Awards-- both for Outstanding Achievement-- for original programming; and Telly Awards for videos.

GCPS, an early proponent of the Clean Air Schools program, has been named the 2011 PACE Clean Air School District of the Year.

GCPS has been recognized among the best communities in the U.S. for music education for 2012 by the National Association of Music Merchants Foundation.
